After going independent, IO Interactive is putting everything they have behind Hitman 3. The upcoming entry is the final game in the team's current trilogy and it sounds like players should expect IOI to pull out all the stops. This "love letter" to the game's fans plans to reset the bar for what a Hitman game can be. Give the new video a watch below.

The current-gen Hitman games have all been remarkable. Obviously, the first one took the world by storm with its intricate level design. Hitman 2 followed that up with a superbly refined gameplay experience. Now IO is "pushing the systems" even further in regards to AI. If you're not excited about what that could mean, then we're not playing the same games.

Importantly, the developers are listening to player requests from the first two games. To that end, they're finally implementing progression carry-over between Hitman 2 and 3. So, most of your mastery unlocks will come to the new game with you. That's a great move that means Hitman 2's best assassins will have a leg up at the start.

IO Interactive also seems to place a greater level of importance on delivering a darker story. They plan to tie threads together that will make long-time fans' brains explode. Of course, only time will tell if they can do that successfully. That said, you have to admire them for trying to give Hitman a quality narrative.

Hitman 3 launches on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series in January 2021. Be sure to hop into Hitman 2 and finish up all those mastery unlocks in preparation.
