IO Interactive's assassination simulator Hitman 3 was revealed to be coming to the Switch last October. We now have a date for when that version of the game will release, and shockingly, it's quite soon. Hitman 3 will be arriving on Switch the same day it launches on all other platforms, January 20.Of course, there is one caveat in this sweet deal. Hitman 3, much like Control is far too graphically intensive for the Switch's hardware. The poor tablet-sized console just can't run games like a full-sized PS4 or Xbox One, let alone current-gen consoles. So instead, in order to run on the Switch, Hitman 3 will only be playable over the cloud. Sadly, that means whenever you want to play IO Interactive's latest title on the mobile console, you'll need a stable, and preferably high-speed, internet connection.

IO Interactive revealed the release date for Hitman 3 today via a tweet. Not many details on the game were offered though, including what kind of quality players can expect the game to run at. Because it's being streamed to the Switch, it's extremely unlikely that Hitman 3 will run at a similar quality to its other console counterparts. Don't expect a full 1080p, 60fps experience here.

That's a shame too because IO Interactive has stressed the visual upgrades players will find in Hitman 3. An entire video was made by the developer showing off new lighting techniques, water physics, and many, many other graphical improvements in Hitman 3. However, it's not clear how many of those new features players can expect to see on the Switch. It might not really matter though, since many of those details will end up lost in handheld mode.

If playing Hitman 3 in bed isn't your style, you can always get it on any of the other platforms it's launching on. Hitman 3 is arriving on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on January 20.
