Bringing an immersive first-person mode to the Hitman series has been a surprising move from IO Interactive lately, and the latest footage from Hitman 3 VR looks interesting enough to convince me to give it a shot when the game launches.

Hitman 3 was officially revealed during Sony's first PlayStation 5 event in June. As a conclusion to The World of Assassination series, the game is set to feature a darker story and deeper gameplay elements. While more gameplay details are yet to be revealed, probably the most surprising part about Hitman 3 is its VR version which will exclusively hit PlayStation VR earlier in 2021.

The latest episode of IO Interactive's development diary is extremely focused on the VR experience of Hitman 3. According to the developers, it's going to raise some eyebrows as they've tried their best to simulate a living, breathing world in VR, where you every one chooses to play in his own way. As a non-linear sandbox game, it would be interesting to see how IO Interactive will approach different aspects of the gameplay in Hitman 3 VR, especially the movements.

As shown during the video, there are some new cool gameplay features in VR that allows you to lose yourself in its world. As an example, you can throw multiple objects towards your enemies or distract them in various ways. IOI aims to let you feel your presence in the virtual world as you can get distracted in the game by other NPCs, listen to what they are talking about, and follow different targets while unexpected outcomes await.

We also get to have a glimpse of gunplay in VR mode, which will allow you to shoot at the enemies while taking cover behind walls or other capable objects.

Hitman 3 will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Stadia, and PC in January 2021. The VR version will be exclusive to PSVR.
