Hitman: Absolution Coming to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility; IO Interactive Hopes to Bring Over More Titles

While the rest of the world has their eyes on the upcoming rebooted adventure from Agent 47 in this March’s Hitman, those looking for one of his previous assignments will be able to go back and play through 2012’s Hitman: Absolution, as the title was confirmed for Xbox One’s growing backwards compatibility list.

Speaking in an interview with WorthPlaying, IO Interactive senior director of PR Reilly Brennan and studio head Hannes Seifert had confirmed that Hitman: Absolution will be coming to Xbox One backwards compatibility in the future, though neither Brennan or Seifert were able to confirm an exact release or timeframe just yet.

In addition to Absolution being on the horizon for backwards compatibility, Brennan and Seifert also expressed IO Interactive’s interest in bringing over other titles to the Xbox One feature, as both IO representatives showed that the company “would love to eventually see all of the studio’s Xbox 360 titles enabled on Xbox One.”

Hitman: Absolution is currently available on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac.
