Yakuza games have developed a tradition of offering a series of free weekly DLC packages after release, and while Hokuto Ga Gotoku isn’t formally part of the series, it will follow the same routine. Today Sega made the announcement to celebrate the game’s Japanese release.

The first package, titled “Special Pack: Welcome to the End of the Century” will include two amulets. One is related to Jackal and will let Ken throw a bomb. The second is Spade’s, and it increases the experience gained for a certain amount of time.

Players will also get three pearls used to unlock Kenshiro’s mind, technique, and body abilities, a piece of equipment raising his attack power by 5%, and the “Canned food of the end of the century” HP recovery item.

Incidentally, with today’s update, the game will also get the death cries recorded by the fans, but for those who don’t like them, the options will include a toggle to turn them off.

The game will receive eight free DLC packages in total over time.

Hokuto Ga Gotoku released today in Japan exclusively for PS4. If you want to see more of the game, you can enjoy several hours of gameplay from last night.
