You may or may not heard of Danny O’Dwyer, who used to be a personality over at Gamespot, but by now you should have heard of his Noclip studio, where he travels the world and attempts to chronicle the tales of Video Game development in the form of documentaries.  Some of his most recent work includes tales of CD Projekt Red and their 2015 Game of The Year Award-winning The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This time, he’s decided to work on another notable single-player-role-playing game: Horizon Zero Dawn.

You can check out the documentary below in its entirety.

Some of the most interesting segments to come out of the documentary are how Guerrilla Games went from developing shooters like Killzone to an open-world RPG like Horizon Zero Dawn, and how they had to put the game on the backburner after the announcement of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

There’s also a lot of footage in the documentary that shows Horizon Zero Dawn in its earliest stages. These segments are striking because they show just how different the game could have been.

Much of the documentary is enveloped in a sort of mysticism, not only in relation to the game’s central mystery but also because of how it narrows in on so many developmental decisions that led the game to be held in the high regard it is today.

Horizon Zero Dawn is available now for the PS4. DualShockers gave the game a perfect score when it released, and you can read about it here. You can also check out our preview of the game’s most recent DLC, The Frozen Wilds, here.
