Today, developer Guerrilla Games released a new video that takes a brief look at the skills and abilities in its upcoming action RPG, Horizon: Zero Dawn.

The video kicks off with Guerrilla Game's Game Director Mathijis de Jonge stating that when the team started the project it had "a good think" about how much depth there should be in the RPG systems and how much should the game lean towards action.

The video then transitions to Managing Director Hermen Hulst, who points out that the game is essentially an RPG that plays as an action game, meaning the goal was to have the quality of combat while also maintaining the fluidity of an action game.

According to de Jonge, a lot of actions you do in the game give you XP, enabling you to level up your character in three different areas: prowler, brave, and forager.

Hermen then goes on to add within these three areas there's a great variety in the amount of great perks you can choose, including things like precision mode where you slow down time, or killing an enemy in one striker while jumping down.

Switching back to De Jonge, the Game Director confirms that there are no predefined classes in the game or anything that locks a player into a certain playstyle, with the game instead leaving it up to the player on how they want to mix and match up skills.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is set to launch for PS4 on February 28, 2017 in North America and on March 1st in Europe. You can check out the DualShocker's review of the game, where we awarded it a very rare 10 out 10, here.
