A classic of the arcade generation, SEGA's House of the Dead became one of the most iconic on-rails shooters to be at many arcades across the world, while a brand new installment is set to arrive in Japan very soon after a decade of dormancy, called House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn.

SEGA has announced that House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn will be arriving in Japanese arcades as the latest installment in the arcade shooter series, with the first cabinet to be available in a "test" location from January 19 - 21 at Akihabara Building 3 in Tokyo, Japan.

In a report from Famitsu (via Gematsu), House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn has been developed using Unreal Engine 4 and will bring players the classic arcade cabinet experience of the original House of the Dead titles, while also bringing larger numbers of enemies on screen that will "be the highest in the series yet."

In addition to the classic light fun gameplay of the originals, the cabinet itself will also include some new features such as air cannons and vibrating seats to enhance the immersion in the zombie-filled world.

House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn will arrive in Japanese arcades starting next week, though no details have been confirmed at this time about a wider Japanese release (or Western release) for the cabinet just yet.
