How many episodes will Demon Slayer Entertainment District Arc have (October 10, update)

One cour is usually equivalent to 13 episodes, so you would think Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 will have 25-26 episodes, just like the first season. However, S2 was officially confirmed to be 18 episodes in total, as spotted by @ManganiMY on Twitter. Episode 1, aired on October 10, was an one hour anime original focusing on Rengoku, and episodes 2 to 7 will re-adapt the record-breaking movie Mugen Train. The last episodes from Episode 8 to 18 will be the Entertainment District Arc.

Demon Slayer and anime cours explained

It’s also interesting to note the season will be aired continuously. While nowadays, a lot of series tend to be split cour, as in one cour is aired, then a season is skipped, and the next cour is aired 3 months later.

Anime production committees starting doing this as a way to save up, but also to reorganize a show depending on fans’ feedback. Which personally I believe is a pretty bad thing. One good bad example is Gundam OO with its second cour having way more action and a pretty different tone than the first one overall, as a way to try and get some more fans. It’s rarer and rarer for series outside of kids anime to go for two cours continuously, and only incredibly popular shows like Demon Slayer get that treatment.

Demon Slayer is also getting a console game in October. With Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba The Hinokami Chronicles releasing in Japan on October 14, and worldwide on October 15, 2021. It’s an 3D arena fighting game developed by CyberConnect2, with an Adventure Story mode featuring Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke. The Hinokami Chronicles is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft Windows, and Steam. Learn more with our past coverage. You can also hit me up on Twitter @A_iyane07.
