What Is A Dripstone Cave In Minecraft?

So, how do you know when you've located a Dripstone Cave? Well, the cave will be filled with both Dripstone Blocks and Pointed Dripstone. These are brown coloured blocks that form in small clusters around the cave.

If a water or lava source is placed above a Pointed Dripstone, small droplets of water or lava will drip down the block and onto the floor. Place a Cauldron underneath to collect the droplets.

As well as these brown coloured blocks, players will also likely find small pockets of water around the cave, another helpful way to indicate you're inside of a Dripstone Cave.

There are also no exclusive mobs that can spawn inside of the Dripstone Cave, unless the cave is lit up sufficiently you'll find the usual Zombies, Spiders, Skeletons, and Creepers spawning around you.

How To Find A Dripstone Cave In Minecraft?

Unfortunately, there isn't a specific way to locate a Dripstone Cave. However, there are a few important things to know when it comes to finding one.

Out of all of the new caves included in 1.18, the Dripstone Cave will be one of the most common ones to spawn in your world. Whilst underground, hitting F3 will bring up a large page of stats, on the lefthand side of the page there is a small line of text with the 'Biome' heading.

Use this whilst underground to find out what Cave Biome you're in, should you be inside of a Dripstone Cave then the text will read "Biome: minecraft: dripstone_caves".

Dripstone Caves only generate underground but at any height, so you don't need to go deep underground to find one.

Yes, a total of 3 new Cave Biomes were included in the massive Caves and Cliffs update. Once updated to version 1.18 of Minecraft, players will find the Dripstone Cave, Lush Cave, and Noise Cave.
