Roblox has been around for quite a while now and it still manages to be one of the most popular games out there. The game has witnessed exponential growth in the past few months, and the developers are gearing up to launch some exciting updates in the game.

One of the most sought features in Roblox is the ability to change the display name. As of now, players get to choose a username while creating their Roblox account. If players intend to change this username afterwards, they have to pay 1,000 Robux. This isn't quite feasible for a lot of players as 1000 Robux costs around $12. However, Roblox is all set to change that with the introduction of display names.

What's the difference between display names and usernames?

Just a few days ago, Roblox Staff announced in the official Dev Forum that the game will be getting display names pretty soon. One might be wondering, what makes display names different from regular usernames? Well, display names won't affect your username in any way. In fact, going forward, display names will serve as the name that will be shown in the game and which other players will see. Usernames will be then be only used to log into your Roblox account.

There are a few advantages of display names. First and foremost, unlike the username, the display name doesn't need to be unique. That means, two players can have the same display name. Secondly, players can change their display name any number of times for free. Yes, you read that right. The only catch here is that you need to wait for 7 days until you are able to change your display name again.

How to get a display name in Roblox?

The display name update has rolled out in Germany and other parts of Europe. Unfortunately, for players residing in other parts of the world, there is no way to change the display name as of now. That being said, considering the fact that the update has rolled out in Germany, it should be out pretty soon worldwide as well.
