How To Get Sugarcane In Animal Crossing New Horizons

Farming is something that was not in Animal Crossing New Horizons from the very start, with really the only thing you would be doing involved planting flowers for gardening.

That changed with the addition of pumpkins in a past update, which allowed players to grow their own pumpkins to decorate all around the island for the fall season.

Now update 2.0 has introduced cooking into the mix as well, which means you need the right ingredients for it as well. Sugarcane is one of those brand new ingredients that you need to grow yourself.

This can be done by visiting Nook’s Cranny after installing the update and purchasing seeds to grow sugarcane.

After purchasing the seeds, find a spot on your island to plant the seed and make sure to water it. Keep checking on it and eventually, it will sprout and grow into sugarcane that you can harvest for cooking in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Do You Need The DLC To Access Sugarcane?

Nintendo is going all out for what they are calling the last major free updates and only paid update for Animal Crossing New Horizons. Both of these are chocked full of content for you to enjoy, including the addition of sugarcane.

The good news for those not wanting to pay for the Happy Home Paradise DLC is that the addition of sugarcane to the game does not require you to have the paid DLC.

Instead, sugarcane is now available as a crop for anyone playing Animal Crossing New Horizons that has downloaded the update. As a result, make sure that you have downloaded the latest update before firing up the game and be ready for all the new content.
