As you may already know, Empress of Light is an optional boss that you can opt out from confronting her, but defeating her, especially during the day, will grant you a worthy loot that you wouldn't want to miss.

How to Summon Empress of Light in Terraria

Summoning Empress of Light requires you to kill a certain bug at a certain time in a specific location, So, let's get into the details of all these requirements.

First of all, keep in mind that Empress of Light can only be summoned in the Hardmode, which you can unlock after defeating all bosses for one time at least.

Once in the Hardmode, you will only be able to summon Empress of Light after defeating the Golem boss. So, make sure you don't proceed to the next boss before confronting the Empress of Light.

Now that you have both qualifications for this tough fight, head over to a Hallow biome in the evening and wait until you see a rainbow-colored butterfly, known as Prismatic Lacewing, appears.

You have two options now: You can either kill the butterfly to summon Empress of Light instantly during the evening, or you can capture the butterfly and then release and kill it during the daytime to summon the boss.

Confronting Empress of Light during the daytime would be much harder but the loot after defeating the boss will include more valuable items.

Try to keep yourself away from the attacks of the boss as she can kill you instantly.
