How To Use Pokemon Go XL Candy & Level 40 Changes Explained

Niantic has made some slight changes to the XL Candy in Pokemon Go and fans are curious to learn more about the same.

With the advent of an all-new season, Niantic is making some significant changes to the Pokemon Go meta. If you have been playing the game for a while, you might be well aware of the fact that players needed the XL Candy to power their Pokemon beyond Level 40. Moreover, if you wanted to get the XL Candy, you need to be at least level 40, which wasn’t possible for quite a lot of players. However, that has changed with the new season.


What changes has Niantic made to Pokemon Go XL Candy?

Starting with the Season of GO, players don’t really need to wait until they reach level 40 to get the XL candies. Instead, they can simply start earning XL candies once they hit level 31. This will allow them to level up their Pokemon much earlier, which is something that should be a welcome change for a lot of players out there.

How to use and get the XL Candy in Pokemon Go?

Before we jump into how you can use XL candies, let’s talk about how you can get them first. As we mentioned earlier, the basic requirement is to ensure that you are level 31 in the game. After that, you can earn XL candies in the following ways.

  • By catching Pokemon.
  • By catching Raid bosses.
  • By trading or transferring a Pokemon.
  • By hatching a Pokemon
  • By walking with a Buddy.
  • By exchanging regular candy for XL candies.

Once you have enough candies to level up your Pokemon beyond level 40, you can feed them to your Pokemon to level them up. The process is the same as the regular candies, with the only difference being the level at which it can be used.
