Pokemon GO Battle League was first introduced early last year and allows you to face off with random trainers around the world, with the ultimate goal being to win a trainer battle as often as you can.

For the month of October, this becomes even more important with the Halloween Cup Timed Research, which tasks you with defeating a certain number of trainers in battle.

Some people are GO Battle League veterans and will have no problems, but those that haven't participated may need a little extra help.

How To Win A Trainer Battle In Pokemon GO Battle League

The Pokemon GO Battle League pits you against players all around the world through matchmaking around your general season level. Thankfully those at the lower levels are often going to be not as prepared either, so you will have a better chance when just starting out.

Depending on the Cups available at the time, you will find different rules and regulations for which Pokemon you can use or will want to use to have the best chances if you're looking to win a trainer battle in the Pokemon GO Battle League.

Each set of battles features five bouts against players before you get to redeem rewards based on how many of the five you won.

Actually winning is something that will be very much dependent on not just the team you select, but also your opponent's team. There is no perfect unbeatable trio of Pokemon that you can use, so trying to find ones that have the least weaknesses can be a big help.

This can be easier said than done, so what you're going to need to do is see what Leagues or Cups are available during the time you are trying to play.

What League or Cups Are Available Right Now?

Pokemon GO Battle League is currently about halfway through Season 9 as of the time of writing this article, which means there are a few options when it comes to the type of GO Battle League Leagues or Cups that are available in the game.

For the period of October 11 through October 15, you will be able to participate in the Great League, which requires you to have Pokemon no greater than 1,500 CP.

Joining the Great League is the Halloween Cup today, October 15, which will be running through November 2nd. This Cup requires Pokemon with no more than 1,500 CP to enter, which also have to be a Poison, Bug, Ghost, Dark, or Fairy type to enter.

While the Halloween Cup is still running, the Ultra League and Ultra League Premier Classic will also debut on October 25 as well and will run through November 8.

Ultra League itself just requires Pokemon to be no higher than 2,500 CP, while Ultra League Premier Classic adds the stipulations that no Legendary or Mythical Pokemon be used or no Pokemon that have been powered up with XL Candy be used.

Those are all of the Cups that will be available during the time of the Halloween Cup Timed Research where it is most necessary, so best of luck getting all of the wins necessary.
