After months of speculation and silence from the company, HTC has unveiled the retail price for its upgraded virtual headset, the Vive Pro, as well new information on its original model.

According to the press release, the Vive Pro is available for $799 with global pre-orders for the new piece of hardware now live while headsets will begin shipping starting April 5. Additionally, those who purchase the Vive Pro headset before Sunday, June 3 will receive a six-month subscription for Viveport, free of charge,

Initially announced that this year's CES, the HTC Vive Pro features 2880 x 1600 combined resolution, as well as a second camera located at the front of the headset. Other new additions offered on the Vive Pro include detachable headphones, a noise-canceling microphone, as well as a lighter weight compared to its predecessor.

Aside from finally revealing the Vive Pro's retail price, HTC also announced that starting today, the original HTC Vive virtual reality headset has received a permanent price cut to $499, $100 more than its competitor the Oculus Rift, but $300 less than its updated model.
