Who's The Japanese Voice Actor For Hu Tao in Genshin Impact?
Listen to the first official Genshin Impact teaser trailer with Hu Tao's Japanese voice.
miHoYo officially revealed Hu Tao in Genshin Impact (PC, PS4, PS5, Mobile, Switch TBA) and most notably announced her Japanese voice actress. In the Japanese dub of Genshin Impact, Hu Tao is voiced by Rie Takahashi, and you can hear Hu Tao’s voice with the new teaser trailer below.
Rie Takahashi debuted as a seiyuu (Japanese voice actresses and actors) in 2013, with support and background roles. She works for the 81 Produce agency. Rie Takahashi had her first breakthrough with the role of Futaba Ichinose in the anime series Seiyuu’s Life. Later, Rie Takahashi won the Best Female Newcomer award at the 10th Seiyuu Awards in 2016.
Rie Takahashi is most notably known nowadays for three highly popular roles.
First, Rie Takahashi is voicing Megumin in KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World!, the comedy and fantasy anime series by Natsume Akatsuki. The series is known for its quirky characters, and Megumin is one of the most popular girls of the cast. Megumin can only cast a single Explosion spell, and Hu Tao in Genshin Impact is a Pyro user, so this definitely played a part in miHoYo picking Rie Takahashi.
Secondly, Rie Takahashi voices Emilia in Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, another highly popular series. While Rem might be the most popular character in the series, Rie Takahashi’s performance as Emilia has been outstanding. The I Love Emilia meme and the overall popularity of the Re:Zero anime seasons strongly established Rie Takahashi has a high profile seiyuu both in and outside Japan.
Lastly, Rie Takahashi voices Mash Kyrielight in Fate/ Grand Order and the Nasuverse. FGO is by far one of the most popular mobile gacha games in Japan and the world, with Mash being its poster girl. FGO already received several anime adaptations, and the Nasuverse is still ongoing with new games such as the upcoming Tsukihime Remake, or Fate/Extra Record.
Hu Tao has been leaked in the past and dataminers already shared her model and illustrations as well. However, this is the first time miHoYo has actually officially showed us Hu Tao. So far, she was only hinted at ingame through Friendship dialogues.
It’s interesting to note miHoYo revealed Hu Tao on February 27, which is Rie Takahashi’s birthday.
After the official announcement, Rie Takahashi made it clear on Twitter she’s particularly happy to be voicing Hu Tao. We translated her tweet below.
Rie Takahashi: “Hu Tao is comiiiing!!! She’s a biiiit weird, but I hope you’ll get along with her!!”

Genshin Impact Hu Tao Japanese Voice – Teaser Trailer
miHoYo did not publish a release date for the Hu Tao gacha banner yet. We’ll be sure to tell you when we hear about it. Genshin Impact will soon launch Version 1.4, and we should learn more about it with the usual live streams. Personally speaking, I’d suggest being careful around leaks and waiting for official announcements.
Genshin Impact might also soon receive a native PS5 version.
