Just three years and two months after its Japanese release, Q-Max and DeNa, developers of the popular mobile game Hunter x Hunter Arena Battle, have announced that it is shutting down the mobile game on March 31 at 15:00 JST.In connection with the pending closure, in-game microtransactions such as purchasing Jenny will cease to operate by February 28. Purchases made before January 26 at 13:59 JST will also be refunded. Users will need to submit a ticket via the screen support tab in Hunter x Hunter Arena Battle.Fans might have rejoiced after the announcement of Hunter X Hunter manga received its official return date, however, mobile game users will have to bid goodbye to one of the franchise's games. As the shutdown date approaches, the external community site, in-game card library and deck code generator will slowly begin to cease operations. The game’s official website will also be shut down by May 31. As a send-off gift to current users, Q-Max is offering a final login bonus promotion. Based on Othello/Reversi, players take turns in placing character cards with numerous attributes that empower them to inflict damage depending on the number of opponent cards they flip.

The aim of the game is to bring down the opponent’s HP to zero. They can do this through action and support cards that will give them an advantage in various ways. Throughout the game, players build their decks in order to climb the leaderboard. As the game progresses, players can acquire new characters and special ability cards by rolling the gacha.

Hunter x Hunter Arena Battle also features voices of the cast of the 2011 anime adaptation and includes animation stills from the anime. This allows the players to relive some scenes from the long-running manga series.

The last major update for Hunter x Hunter Arena Battle was released on January 28, 2022, in commemoration of its 2nd anniversary. Hunter x Hunter Greed Adventure, another popular smartphone game in the franchise, also ended its service in January 2020.
