Japanese publisher Happinet announced that they will bring the Asakusa Studios developer dungeon crawling RPG Hyakki Castle to the west for PC-via Steam in winter 2017.

Hyakki Castle is a real-time dungeon crawling RPG that features 3D dungeons and enemies. Players will explore a large haunted castle in order to battle against creatures from ancient Japanese literature.

Hyakki Castle contains some unique systems, such as, allowing the player to split up their party of four into 2 separate groups so they can either strategically surround an enemy or explore different areas of the dungeon at the same time. Furthermore, the game contains Ukiyo-e style graphics, which is inspired by famous ancient Japanese scrolls and artists.

“We wanted to bring a fresh new approach and subject matter to this generation of dungeon RPG gamers,” said Masaru Saito of Happinet. “Hyakki Castle borrows from a rich period of time in Japan’s ancient history and aims to deliver a memorable experience through our strong Japanese warrior classes along with unusual monsters and supernatural creatures that are unique to Japanese folklore.”

Additionally, Hyakki Castle allows players to choose multiple classes to make up their party, Samurai, Ninja, and Monk. Each of these classes will have a unique skillset and attack patterns.
