Hyper Light Drifter finally makes its way to iOS tomorrow. Abylight Studios are handling the port after doing a great job with the Nintendo Switch version of Heart Machines' award-winning slash-'em-up.

Hyper Light Drifter did incredibly well critically when it released in 2016. Dualshockers gave the game a 9.5 and said that "every aspect of it contains a high bar of quality." The game is an action-adventure RPG that calls to mind the genre classics from the 16-bit era. It delivers beautiful pixel art, great sound work, and fun combat. If you're a fan of games like The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, this is well worth a purchase.

The iOS port supports 120 fps gameplay on the iPad Pro and 60 fps on other Apple devices. That means the iPad Pro will run the game at double the framerate as the Switch version. Which is a sizeable step up, if that's something you care about. This is also the special edition of Hyper Light, adding in extra weapons, enemies, and areas. This edition was previously exclusive to Switch, so it's cool to see more people get access to it.

This release also makes the wait for Heart Machine's next game a little easier to handle. Solar Ash Kingdom was announced in March and, while we don't even have a release window, I'm looking forward to seeing more from the developer's new game.

Hyper Light Drifter is out for iOS on July 25. The game is currently also available on Linux, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
