The official Twitter account for Hyrule Warriors (or known as Zelda Musou in Japan) has confirmed that the game will not feature an online co-op functionality when playing through the game’s campaign mode.

However the game will still offer offline co-op functionality when playing through the game’s campaign.  One player will be assigned to use the Wii U Gamepad’s screen while the second player’s character will display in the television and use a secondary linked controller, like a Wii U Pro controller. The game will still include online functionality, but playing campaign mode cooperatively is strictly offline-only sadly.
