Yakuza Ishin Producer Apologizes About Misleading Description Implying Sexual Relationship with Haru

Yakuza Ishin has just recently been detailed and it’s already under fire: Japanese magazines printed information on the game that talked about “sharing a bed” with the character Haru and having her washing the protagonist Ryoma Sakamoto’s back in the game’s newly announced “another life” mode.

The wording got a lot of people upset in Japan, especially fans of the Yakuza character Haruka, since Haru is basically her alter-ego in the world of Yakuza Ishin, and Haruka is definitely underage (even if there’s no official word on her age as Haru, at least to my knowledge).

Today producer Masayoshi Yokoyama took to Twitter to clarify.

Here’s a translation of what he says:

In “Another Life” you can grow crops together with Haru and perform various tasks. While doing that she’ll open her heart to Ryoma gradually, and she’s going to reveal her identity. They can talk while laying in the bed together (*like you’d do with your child), or she may wash Ryoma’s back in the bath.

The so-called romantic feelings are felt at a distance, but there is no contact. They get closer in a way that is strictly similar to the relationship between father and daughter.

We sincererly apologize to all Haruka fans for the misleading description “sharing the bed”.

There you have it: Yakuza Ishin‘s version of the innocent Haruka won’t do anything dirty with Sakamoto Ryoma. The pitchforks and torches can go back in the barn.
