It seems that after getting Rage 2 out the door earlier this year, id Software's Tim Willits is moving on to a new chapter of his life.As shared on Twitter today, Willits, who has been the studio director at id Software since 1995, announced that he will be departing from the studio later this month after QuakeCon. In addition to overseeing a variety of the studio's projects over the past decades, Willits has also previously served as the creative director on the original Rage and was the lead designer of Doom 3."I’ve been extremely lucky to work with the best people in the industry on truly amazing games," Willits said. "All of the games currently in development are in very good hands, my departure will not affect any planned releases. id Software is packed full of amazing talent that will continue to develop (long into the future) some of the best shooters in the world."Willits already seems to have something else lined though, and said that he'll have more to share on what that is following QuakeCon. For reference, QuakeCon is set to take place next week from July 25 through July 28.Assuming Willits' future is still tied to that of gaming, we'll be sure to let you know where he's headed next in the coming weeks.
