Immortals Fenyx Rising, one of Ubisoft's many action-adventure titles, is reportedly getting a sequel as an industry insider claims that pre-production has begun; but fans shouldn't expect a release or announcement anytime soon.

According to journalist and industry insider Jeff Grubb, Ubisoft's sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising is "not a proper sequel, but more of a spin-off in the same way" his source confirms to him. Grubb goes on to state that the game will still have a god narrator and will still be visually stylized but less of a copy of Breath of The Wild.

Although Immortals Fenyx Rising launched to generally favorable reviews from critics, the glaring problem was the lack of innovation and huge similarities to Nintendo's Breath of The Wild. So it should come as no surprise that Grubb goes on to state that his source has informed him that the sequel/spin-off will be a "visual reboot".

Grubb's source also claims to have seen some concept art as the game has only just entered pre-production and is "maybe" set to arrive in 2025, meaning we're still three years away from a possible release.

As for the validity of this information, Grubb's source reportedly divulged details on Ubisoft's recent cancellation of various titles such as Splinter Cell VR and Ghost Recon Frontline before the news actually broke. Alongside these two titles being cancelled by Ubisoft, two other unannounced games were also reportedly scrapped.

This could of course mean that one of the cancelled titles could be the sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising, but Grubb believes this isn't the case. When asked by his co-host if this could be one of the four titles cancelled, Grubb says "maybe, but I don't think so. I think when it's that far off, probably not".
