In Killer is Dead Not all Ladies are There to be Seduced, New Info and Screenshots Released

July 1, 2013

Grasshopper Manufacture’s Killer is Dead is well known for its gigolo missions, but turns out that not all the ladies included in the game are there to be seduced.

Today Kadokawa Games released a new and large batch of information, screenshots and renders of the game…with a twist. We get to learn about the “Painful Lady” episode, in which Mondo has to face a mysterious girl named Alice that transforms into a spider-like creature that will serve as the execution target for the mission.

That’s quite unexpected for a game that, so far, always put ladies in the position to be the “target” of another kind of attentions, while all bosses so far have been male. We can always count on Suda 51 to surprise us, after all.

We also get a glimpse on the progression system at the base of the game. Every time Mondo kills an enemy, it’ll drop “moon crystals”. By gathering and spending those mondo can unlock new skills and upgrade his weapons. Interestingly enough the weapons will change name once upgraded. For instance Barrett Shot will become Barrett Shot Neo, Cannon Charge will become Ultimate Cannon, and Drill will evolve into Drill Plus.

Mondo can unlock a large variety of attack skills: Power Stab avoids an enemy attack and performs a quick thrusting attack. Counter Shot will dodge enemy ranged fire, and will deliver an instant kill counter on normal opponents. With Spiral Finish Mondo will stab the enemy so hard that he’ll actually pierce the floor under him. Counter Smash will block an attack and execute a powerful smash on the ground with the Musselback arm, sending the opponent flying.

There also are special skills that can be unlocked: High Mobility will increase Mondo’s speed and reach. Guard Crash lets him break an enemy’s attempt to block his attacks. Healing will let him use the blood absorbed from the enemies to heal himself. It can used continuously for fast healing.

Finally Gekkou Break allows our charming protagonist to release the limiter of his katana, unlocking its full power for a limited time.

Hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality) and MMORPGs are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
