In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki (Kunoichi Tsubaki no Mune no Uchi) TV anime - Release date estimate, staff analysis

In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki will be released in 2022. Studio CloverWorks is handling the animation. The director will be Takudai Kakuchi.

Series composition is by Konomi Shugo, a scriptwriter who worked on Aikatsu Stars and Aikatsu Friends, and is currently on Tropical Rouge Precure. Shugo is basically a specialist in little girls kids anime.

Music is by Yusuke Shirato, a popular composer who when it comes to games and anime most notably did several songs for The Idolmaster franchise and for the Raildex franchise.

Meanwhile, the character designer on the Kunoichi Tsubaki anime is Yousuke Okuda, who handled the charadesign on Blend S and Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka (Is the Order a Rabbit).

It'll be the first time Takudai Kakuchi is directing a series, and when it comes to slightly similar comedy series, Kakuchi worked as storyboard and episode director on Jyashin-chan Dropkick (Dropkick on my Devil) Episode 6.

Takudai Kakuchi also was episode director on Sangatsu no Lion (March Comes In Like A Lion), A.I.C.O. Incarnation, MHA S2 and S3, Domestic na Kanojo (Domestic Girlfriend), among others. Each time for only one or a few episodes.

Protagonist Tsubaki will be voiced by YÅ«ko Natsuyoshi, a seiyuu who debuted in 2018 and hasn't gotten many major roles yet. This could be Natsuyoshi's breakthrough role if the Kunoichi Tsubaki anime becomes big. Especially if she nails Tsubaki's antics and inner monologues.

In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki - Reveal trailer and key visual

Overall, both the director and the main seiyuu are pretty inexperienced. And seeing the effects of the pandemic are still high there on the anime industry, I'm personally not getting my hopes high. But hopefully, this first TV anime season for In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki will turn out nicely.

In any case, check out the reveal trailer below, which uses panels from the original manga. The first key visual also features Tsubaki. Looks like the anime's character design by Yousuke Okuda is pretty close to the original manga's style. Most notably keeping the series' iconic MASSIVE foreheads.

More on Kunoichi Tsubaki no Mune no Uchi, the ninja CGDCT comedy by the author of Teasing Master Takagi-san - Story details

Kunoichi Tsubaki no Mune no Uchi is written and drawn by Souichirou Yamamoto, the mangaka of Takagi-san. The manga focuses on an isolated women-only clan in the mountains, where young kunoichi (female ninja) train. And except for the few adults teachers, none of the girls have ever seen a boy.

In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki is a comedy series where protagonist Tsubaki is basically slowly getting obsessed with boys. Which sometimes obstructs, but also surprisingly helps with her training. It's a CGDCT - Cute Girls Doing Cute Things - series with a lot of comedy and interesting dynamics between the cast. Sprinkled with a few serious moments at times, and actual character development.

In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki also has a massive cast, equal in size to Tsubaki's forehead. With a dozen of different kunoichi squads at the clan. Each squad is made of three girls. It'll be interesting to see all the seiyuu who got picked for the various, colorful characters of the series.

The original Kunoichi Tsubaki no Mune no Uchi manga started in 2018 in Japan, and is pretty popular. With five volumes out so far. So it was only a matter of time until an anime was announced. Sadly, the manga isn't localized yet in the USA. If you're looking for anime and manga recommendations, you could always ask me on Twitter @A_iyane07.
