“Independence Day Special” Update Coming to Grand Theft Auto Online

Rockstar Games revealed a brand new Grand Theft Auto Online update for 4th of July, which includes plenty of new and limited-time content as well as a few balancing updates.

The Independence Day Special update includes two new vehicles, the Sovereign motorcycle and Liberator monster truck (for crushing smaller cars), the high-powered Musket (deadly and efficient over long distances), the new Firework Rocket Launcher and seven new properties to purchase (including locations in Paleto Bay and Vinewood Hills).

The ability to place and set off fireworks has been added to the Interaction Menu. Players can purchase four different types from Ammu-Nation and then access them in their inventory. Players can also ride the Ferris Whale and the Leviathan Roller Coaster down on Pleasure Pier, wear a “Made in the U.S.A.” t-shirt, a backwoods mullet and/or an animal mask featuring the bald eagle.

Finally a few of the manifold patches made to the game include:

  • A player’s Mental State will no longer increase when killing hostile mercenaries.
  • The increase rate for killing Cops who are chasing the player as a result of being wanted has been reduced.
  • Mental state will no longer increase for killing players who have a Bounty on their head or for a player defending themselves when they have a Bounty on them.

The full patch list can be found here. And to access all of the new content, simply download Patch 1.15 on the PS3 or Xbox 360 (the latter will need to download an additional compatibility pack as well). Check out the gallery below and take in all the “MURICA.
