Indie Royale Starts All-Charity Pack
Indie Royale, co-created by IndieGames.com and Desura, have announced a special game bundle call the All-Charity Pack. The pack will include four indie games and three chiptune albums with all proceeds being donated to four different charities. Each developer has picked a charity to donate to, which includes UNICEF’s Haiti aid, human rights group Amnesty International, EFF for free speech and privacy advocacy, and ActionAid that provides programs to help deal with global poverty.
Each game will be available for Windows through Steam, Desura, and DRM-free. The included games are Hemishpere Games’ puzzle game Osmos, Erik Svedang’s Blueberry Garden, Wadjet Eye Games’ The Shivah, and B.U.T.T.O.N by Copenhagen Game Collective.
Osmos is a physics based puzzle game that puts the player in the role of a single-celled organism. The goal is to grow by absorbing other organisms in the the surrounding area that requires planning and strategy. The game gives off a mellow vibe from its simple electronic soundtrack to the ambiance provided in each of the levels. It is a puzzle game that keeps you engaged through its challenges and aesthetics.
Blueberry Garden won an Independent Games Festival Grand Prize for its experimental game that has players investigating a mysterious world that taps into players desire to explore. Players are challenged to experiment with different fruits in the game and make use of their effects for navigating through the game world. The game features an offbeat soundtrack and several endings for the player to discover.
The Shivah has players play as Russell Stone, a Jewish Rabbi in New York City plagued with poverty. After a congregation member passes on and leaves him a large sum of money, his faith becomes tested as he is brought on an adventure in New York City that will lead to unsettling truths.
B.U.T.T.O.N is a unconventional party game that has players walking away from their controllers and racing their way back to their controllers. Since the game occurs in a physical space, there is no way to prevent unfair tactics that are actually encouraged by the game in order to win.
The bundle will retail for $7 USD or the equivalent price for other countries. Included albums with these four games are Jake Kaufman’s FX4, Fez soundtrack creator Disasterpeace’s Level, and new EP from Super Time Force composer 6955 called IN1ep.
Those interested in this great deal can decide how much goes to each charity. It provides an excellent opportunity to give to a good cause and enjoy some great indie games and chiptune albums.
