inFAMOUS: Second Son Has No Multiplayer to Make a Spectacular Game and Make You “Glad You Own a PS4”

We managed to confirm that inFAMOUS: Second Son has no multiplayer only recently, and today during a livestream on IGN Sucker Punch Production’s co-founder Chris Zimmerman explained that the studio definitely thought about implementing multiplayer, and explained why they decided to leave it out:

Absolutely, it’s something we thought about all the time. […]¬†We didn’t have a lot of resources so we had to figure what to focus on, and we focused on really leveraging the hardware. Making sure that we were doing a PS4 game to make you glad that you joined team sony, to make you glad that you have a PS4. So we worked hard on just making the game look and feel spectacular. We didn’t feel like we could do justice to a multiplayer setup at the same time.

There you have it, straight from the lion’s mouth. How do you feel about it? Are you part of the camp that feels that nowadays a game needs to have multiplayer to be a complete experience, or indeed you prefer developers to focus on spectacular single player experiences?
