Insomniac Reveals Previously Unseen Ratchet and Clank Concept Art

on August 23, 2012 7:37 PM

To accompany their release of the Ratchet and Clank Collection Trailer, Insomniac Games COO John Florio today posted on the official playstation blog, revealing some 10 years worth concept sketches for the original Ratchet and Clank title. Fans of the series have been asking for concept sketches for years now, and it’s interesting to see the complete left turn that Insomniac took from the original designs of the characters. In the sketches, you can see that Ratchet’s original design was much more alien compared to his current cat-like structure, and Clank’s reptilian build is a huge departure from the simple skinny robot design we’ve all come to know and love.

A quick jump over at the official Insomniac blog continues the insightful look into the entire Ratchet and Clank universe, providing a look at various extra characters and cities such as Megapolis. To accompany the art, some exposition is added, filling the blog with a lot of information about the thought processes that went behind these designs.  Good stuff from Insomniac, fans will be thoroughly pleased for the insight.
