Insurgency: Sandstorm is launching later today and to celebrate the launch of the title a new trailer has landed on publisher Focus Home Interactive's YouTube channel.

The trailer found below shows off a blend of cinematics and in-game footage to start but soon moves into gameplay footage. We see the two teams fighting one another, surrounded by gunfire and explosions while taking cover throughout various maps set within fictional middle-eastern locations.

Last weekend, developer New World Interactive ran a free-to-play open beta allowing players to jump into the game. I jumped on to give it a try after being a fan of the original Insurgency back when it was only a Half-Life 2 mod. The guns are powerful, realistic, and deadly, and death comes easy if you're not careful. The maps were stunning to look at with both close quarters and long-distance fitting nicely, and the audio work was both high-quality and positional. There were issues with optimization as many users had been pointing out in the in-game chat, but I found it ran smoothly on medium or high settings.

Insurgency: Sandstorm allows players to join online matches in either Co-op which pits real players against AI-controlled enemy forces, Versus mode, which pits teams against one another in either Push, Firefight, or Skirmish modes. A competitive mode is also available with ranked matches, and was closed off to the public during the open-beta weekend but was stated to be unlocking at launch.

Insurgency: Sandstorm is set to launch later today and can still be pre-ordered, offering a 10% discount and an in-game tattoo that you can show off. Those who own the original Insurgency will get an additional 10% off, with the discount being available until the end of March 2019.

Insurgency: Sandstorm is to launch today for PC. It will be arriving on consoles in 2019.
