International Release of Final Fantasy Type-0 in the Works; You Can Stop Crying Now

The Final Fantasy Type-0 Ultimania Guide was released today in Japan, featuring an interview with director Hajima Tabata. Seeing as this has been a rollercoaster week for Type-0 news, I can only offer a wary “yay” for this one; in the interview, Tabata clearly states that the game’s staff is working on an overseas localization of Type-0.

The only questions left are ones of timing and whether or not the game will be released for the dying PSP or its shiny new sibling, the PlayStation Vita. In addition to discussing Western releases, Tabata mentioned that a direct sequel to Type-0 is a distinct possibility, featuring the same world and characters. The Type games could become their own numbered sequence, and the director suggested this next game — which he would prefer to be released for a console, not a handheld — be called Type-1.

Obviously the success of the series depends on player reaction, so if you want to see more of this Type of Final Fantasy, you should pick up a copy when it’s released.
