Pokemon GO - Is Basculin Good? Can it Be Shiny?
The concept of space has all been mixed up in the second part of Pokemon GO‘s Ultra Unlock Event.
Part 2 sees a bunch of different Pokemon appearing in some unusual places, including South America’s Heracross and Australia’s Kangaskhan gracing the whole world with their presence.
Joining those two are the likes of Durant, Heatmor, both Basculin forms and both Shellos forms.
But is Basculin good in Pokemon GO? Should you spend your time hunting it and can it be shiny? Let’s take a look.
Can Red-Striped and Blue-Striped Basculin be Shiny in Pokemon GO?
Unfortunately, unlike both Kangaskhan and Heracross, neither Red-Striped nor Blue-Striped Basculin can be Shiny in Pokemon GO.
While the pair of fish are available with two slightly different colour variations, neither of them are their Shiny forms and are instead just regional variations. There are not other differences between the two than the colour.
It may ease the pain a little to know that Basculin’s Shiny form isn’t a particularly exciting one, so you’re not missing out on too much! You can check it out below:
IS Basculin Good in Pokemon GO?
The simple answer to this is no.
Basculin is ranked as the 461st best Pokemon in the Great League and the 426th best option in the Ultra League according to PVPoke.
Its Water typing does allow it to beat some formidable fiery foes, there are far better picks in both divisions including the likes of Azumarill in the Great League, Politoed in the Ultra League and Swampert in both.
If you are interested, its best moveset is as follows:
- Fast Attack – Water Gun
- Charged Attack – Aqua Tail
- Charged Attack – Muddy Water
Should you Spend Your Time Hunting Them?
In our humble opinion, no.
Instead, your best bet is to grab yourself a couple of each variation, just so you have some to trade and leave it at that.
