PocketPair Inc, the developer of Craftopia, has launched the open world game on consoles for the first time, with Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One versions, together with a new Windows 10 version of the hack’n’slash, farming, crafting action RPG – which versions are actually crossplay?

Craftopia was first launched in early access on PC Steam on September 4, 2020. Now one year later, the Xbox versions have launched. If you’ve never heard of Craftopia, it’s an indie Japanese game developed by only four people, first revealed at the first Indie Live Expo event in June 2020.

With Craftopia, these four Japanese developers aim to make the ultimate game they always wanted to play, mixing every game they liked. Craftopia includes monster capture like Pokemon, instant building like Fortnite, hack’n’slash and constant Stuff grinding like in Diablo, farming like Story of Seasons, and exploration like The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild.

Which versions of Craftopia are crossplay?

Currently, the Steam version of Craftopia is isolated. Meaning if you grab the game on Steam, you’ll only be able to play co-op online with friends who also play with the Steam version.

Meanwhile, the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows 10 versions of Craftopia are all crossplay. Meaning players on these platforms can all play together. Keep in mind though that since these versions were just launched, the game is still pretty bugged. Seeing how ambitious of a project Craftopia is, the developers couldn’t fix all issues before release. A patch is supposed to be released in late September.

Moreover, PocketPair also revealed on Twitter that the Steam version of Craftopia will also become crossplay at some point. See this message on Twitter: “Cross-play is available between the Microsoft Store and Xbox versions. With other platform, we’re working on it now.”

Craftopia is definitely a game to try out if you’re looking for a change of pace. The game already sold over 500,000 copies too. Read more with our past coverage. You can also reach me on Twitter @A_iyane07 to chat about doujin games / Japanese indie games.
