Originally revealed back in 2019 during Bethesda’s E3 press conference, Deathloop is a new first-person action game with a special focus on immersive-sim elements, similar to the previous Arkane Lyon titles.

If You Like These Games, You Would Enjoy Deathloop

The best way to know whether Deathloop is your cup of tea or not is to look back at the previous Arkane Lyon games, especially the Dishonored series.

Deathloop is very much similar to Dishonored in gameplay design, which could make the most anticipated game of the last few years among all Dishonored fans.

Now the story might not be that similar, but the gameplay follows the same footsteps. The game leaves you free in following whatever method you like for completing the objectives. Look at your capabilities and find the way that is most suitable for your playstyle to approach your objectives.

Now, if Deathloop is going to be your first Arkane Lyon experience, then I probably need to mention the Deus Ex as another franchise that could give you an insight into Deathloop‘s gameplay style. If you haven’t played Deus Ex either, then think of the System Shock series.

Even the Hitman series could be a good hint on Deathloop‘s gameplay style, though you need to imagine a character progression system for that as well.

Does Deathloop Feature Any Online Modes?

Although playing Deathloop offline is a complete experience, but you can add on some multiplayer elements into your game if you want it to be a completely unpredictable run

In Online mode, a player could join your game as Julianna and try to assassinate you. This option is available for players to either pursue Colt’s story-driven journey and try to break the time loop or become Julianna and avoid other players from completing Colt’s run.

Is Deathloop Worth It to Get Day One?

As mentioned above, if you are a fan of the Dishonored series, the chance of not enjoying Deathloop is at a very low level. But keep in mind that Deathloop might be a harder experience compared to Dishonored.

Despite all the similarities, Deathloop has its very own identity, but that shouldn’t be a problem in the end. So, if you can be patient on possible bugs or technical issues that might be seen in any game at launch, there shouldn’t be another reason not to get Deathloop at day one.

Deathloop is now available on PS5 and PC. The game will be available through Xbox Game Pass on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, one year later in 2022.
