Is Dedenne Good in Pokemon GO and What's Its Best Moveset?

November 4, 2021

In what’s turning out to be a non-stop November for Pokemon GO, the latest new event is here and it celebrates the Festival of Lights.

The festival offers players the opportunity to “rediscover and strengthen bonds with all those around you.” And, alongside that, encounter a range of different Pokemon in Raids, Eggs and the wild.

As well as all the featured Pokemon, a creature from Pokemon X & Y will be debuting in Pokemon GO. That Pokemon is Dedenne.

So, as we like to do, here is whether we think Dedenne is good in Pokemon GOs PVP modes and if so, what its best moveset is.

Is Dedenne Good in Pokemon GO PVP?

Dedenne has a unique type combination of Fairy and Electric, which at least offers it its own niche, but does that make it any good in Pokemon GO?

The answer is that it’s not an awful pick, at least in the Great League. According to ranking website PVPoke, Dedenne is the 99th best choice for the division with its Fairy/Electric-typing helping it to take down the likes of Azumarill, Medicham, Skarmory, Sableye and Umbreon – some of the division’s top performers.

Sadly, outside of the Great League, there won’t be much use for Dedenne. It ranks 398th in the Ultra League and is completely irrelevant in the Master League.

That being said, it could be a useful little addition to the game when Niantic has some of the PVP mode’s special cups.

Best Moveset and Max CP

The good thing about Dedenne is that its best moveset makes use of its type combination to gain a STAB attack increase.

You can find that best moveset right here:

  • Fast Move – Thunder Shock
  • Charged Move – Play Rough
  • Charged Move – Discharge

In terms of CP, Dedenne tops out at 1841 at level 40. However, when powered up with XL Candies, it can reach 2081.
