Is Elden Ring getting PlayStation VR gameplay or support? Rumor explained

On August 6, several Japanese blogs reported that Elden Ring is getting PS VR gameplay and support. This all started when the Japanese PlayStation Store product page for Elden Ring was opened. Japanese fans quickly noted then that in its description, besides indicating it’s a solo game with online multiplayer, Sony also included notations stating Elden Ring is compatible with VR headsets and the PSVR Shooting Controller, also called PlayStation VR Aim Controller.

However, this definitely felt fishy, considering FromSoftware didn’t mention any VR gameplay in the press releases, promotional material, or trailers published so far either. Turns out it was indeed a mistake on Sony’s part, as a few hours later, the PS Store page was updated with the mention that Elden Ring does not include any VR functions.

More on Elden Ring

Elden Ring finally got a release date announced at Summer Games Fest 2021. The dark fantasy game is the next game from the Souls team at FromSoftware, made in collaboration with George R. R. Martin.

Elden Ring will be launching on January 21, 2022, on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Another important point I’d like to bring up is how Elden Ring, just like Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne before it, is also heavily inspired by Kentaro Miura’s Berserk. You can always hit me up on Twitter @A_iyane07 to chat about Berserk‘s influence on pop culture, or the various influences Berserk itself had, such as Riyoko Ikeda’s The Rose of Versailles.
