It's been a fruitful few months for Pokemon GO players who are looking to fill up their Pokedex.

Since the turn of the year, Niantic has debuted a range of Pokemon that span across a variety of different generations. This has included a handful of Legendary and Mythical Pokemon such as Zacian and Zamazenta, Xerneas and Yveltal and most recently, Hoopa.

Now, as we head into the yearly Psychic Spectacular event, two more new Pokemon are set to make their Pokemon GO bows, Inkay and Malamar.

But are Inkay and Malamar good in Pokemon GO? Let's take a look at how they perform in the GO Battle League and what the best moveset for them is.

Are Inkay and Malamar Good in Pokemon GO?

With Inkay being a basic Pokemon, and a weak one at that, it's safe to say it's unusable in the GO Battle League. Malamar tells a slightly different story though.

Its interesting Dark/Psychic-typing means it certainly has a niche in Pokemon GO's main PVP mode.

Malamar performs fine in the Great League, with PVPoke ranking it as the 157th best Pokemon in the division. Here it picks up some big wins against the likes of Stunfisk, Bastiodon, Swampert and Hypno, however, it does suffer at the hands of the likes of Medicham, Azumarill and Skarmory.

Its best performance comes in the Ultra League, where when powered up with XL Candies, it is the 81st best pick. While still not amazing, it can deal with the likes of Giratina, Melmetal, Obstagoon and Venusaur.

The Master League is the toughest sell for Malamar, where it comes in at a lowly 311th place. It will help to beat Mewtwo, however, it's easily defeated by any of the division's other key players.

What is Malamar's Best Moveset in Pokemon GO?

If you plan on taking your chances with the Overturning Pokemon, you're going to want to use the following moveset:

  • Fast Move - Psycho Cut
  • Charged Move - Superpower
  • Charged Move - Foul Play

Don't forget though, to be competitive in the Ultra League and above, you will need to ensure you farm Inkay XL Candies.
