Every GO Fest, Niantic blesses players with the opportunity to catch a new Legendary or Mythical Pokemon.

We've had the likes of Celebi, Victini and Lugia thus far and now, it's the turn of Meloetta, the Melody Pokemon.

Players will need to run the gauntlet of a new Special Research story to earn the right to go face-to-face with the Pokemon, but is it anything to get excited about?

Let's take a look at whether Meloetta is good in Pokemon GO, taking into account its best moveset and max CP, or if it's just another 'dex filler.

Type, Best Moveset and Max CP

Meloetta is a Normal and Psychic-type Pokemon.

This leaves it with two weaknesses, Bug and Dark-type moves. Alongside its two weaknesses, however, Meloetta has a nice pair of resistances to go alongside these. They are Ghost and Psychic-type moves.

In terms of max CP, things look very good for Meloetta. It hits 3972 when at level 40, or when powered up with XL Candies to level 50, Meloetta has a max CP of 4490.

If you're looking to use Meloetta in PVP, the moveset you're going to want to use is:

  • Fast Move - Confusion
  • Charge Move - Psyshock
  • Charge Move - Dazzling Gleam

Is Meloetta Good? PVP Meta Check

Meloetta is fine. It's absolutely not going to set the world alight but equally, it's not going to get its backside handed to it every battle.

Ignoring the Great and Ultra Leagues, Meloetta performs best in the Master League. PVPoke ranks it as the 60th best Pokemon in the division.

While that's hardly top tier, it picks up wins against some of the league's biggest players, including Giratina, Togekiss and Gyarados. That being said, you're still probably better off not using it.
