Who Is Morbius?

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of whether or not Morbius is a hero or villain, it's important to know the characters back story.

Dr Michael Morbius is a Nobel Prize-winning scientist from Greece, but after suffering from a debilitating blood disease, Morbius went on a journey to discover a cure. He was able to successfully cure the disease using vampire bats and electroshocks, but the results had some major side effects.

Michael Morbius was turned into a vampire that needed to consume blood in order to survive, he also developed superhuman powers such as increased strength, speed, flight, and healing.

Is Morbius Good or Bad?

So, you've got the back story on Morbius, but is the character classed as a hero or villain? Well, in the original Marvel Comic Books, more specifically The Amazing Spider-Man #101 comic from 1971, Morbius makes his appearance as an enemy of Spider-Man.

Although originally appearing as a villain, the character of Morbius is technically classed as an anti-hero. Similar to other popular anti-heroes such as Deadpool and Venom, this is when a character has both heroic and villainous traits.

This can be very confusing to many, but it essentially means that Morbius is neither good nor bad.
