Pokemon GO’s Ultra Unlock Part 3 event spells the release for a bunch of new Pokemon that first appeared in Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Galar Region into the game.

There are a total of seven Pokemon that will be appearing in the wild, in eggs and in Raids across the course of the eleven-day event.

One of these Pokemon that will be very familiar to those who played the most recent entry in the series is Skwovet and its evolution Greedent.

Here is their status in Pokemon GO, including if either Skwovet or Greedent are any good, what their best movesets are and if they can be Shiny.

Can Skwovet and Greedent Be Shiny In Pokemon GO?

As the pair of squirrel-like Pokemon have just been released, their shiny forms are not available in Pokemon GO just yet.

Like most Pokemon that debut in the game, their alternate colours will likely be held back for a future event.

If you’ve not seen a Shiny Skwovet yet, you can check out its slightly more red colouring below.

Are Skwovet and Greedent Good In Pokemon GO?

Of course, as Skwovet is a first stage evolution, it’s not worth using in battle, but what about Greedent?

Surprisingly, considering it’s just a Normal-type Pokemon, Greedent definitely has a place in Pokemon GO’s PVP modes.

While it’s unlikely to gain much traction in the Great or Master Leagues, where PVPoke ranks it as the 183rd and 250th best picks respectively, Greedent is more than useful in the Ultra League.

Here, it comes in at 20th place, with huge wins against Giratina, Swampert, Cresselia, Togekiss, Lapras and more. It now ranks as the best Normal-type Pokemon in the division, ahead of the likes of Snorlax and Lickilicky.

If you do decide to use it, here is the best Greedent moveset in Pokemon GO:

  • Fast Move – Bullet Seed
  • Charged Move – Body Slam
  • Charged Move – Crunch
