Is Zarude Good in Pokemon GO & What's its Best Moveset?
It’s only been a few short months since the last Mythical Pokemon debuted in Pokemon GO (Meloetta at Pokemon GO Fest) and now, we’re already getting another one.
This time out, the Rogue Monkey Pokemon, Zarude, from Pokemon Sword and Shield is set to make its first appearance in the game.
This appearance comes as part of the Pokemon GO x Pokemon The Movie: Secrets of the Jungle event which is taking place to celebrate the release of the latest entry into the world of Pokemon movies.
But, many players are wondering if Zarude is actually good in Pokemon GO and what its best moveset is. Let’s take a look.
Is Zarude Good in Pokemon GO?
Zarude has an unusual dual Dark- and Grass typing, shared with the likes of Cacturne and Shiftry. This means it has a lot of different resistances but sadly, also a lot of weaknesses. You can check them out here:
- Bug x4
- Psychic x4
In terms of PVP, this means Zarude is solid, if a little unspectacular.
In the Ultra League, PVPoke ranks it as the 149th best Pokemon you can choose. It can beat some difficult Pokemon, including Giratina, Swampert and Cresselia, however, presents a little risk.
In the Master League, it fares a little better coming in at 75th place. Again, it picks up some solid scalps including both Giratina Formes, Mewtwo, Groudon and Kyogre but in a division full of strong Pokemon, there’s always the chance it will be outclassed.
Overall, Zarude is a decent Pokemon with niche usage – I’d expect to see it in the GO Battle League but it won’t be one of the top picks.
What Is Zarude’s Best Moveset?
If you are looking to use Zarude in the GO Battle League, its best moveset is as follows:
- Fast Move – Vine Whip
- Charged Move – Power Whip
- Charged Move – Dark Pulse
It should be noted, while Vine Whip is its best fast move, it can be swapped out for Bite to make Zarude a better Dark-type attacker.
