For the past several years, developer Jackbox Games--initially known for iconic games like You Don't Know Jack--has released its annual line of games in The Jackbox Party Pack. The party game franchise has spawned a large roster of popular minigames over the years, such as fan favorites like Quiplash and Trivia Murder Party to outrageous hits like Tee K.O. and Fibbage. Especially in a year like 2020, Jackbox's line of games are ideal for the era of social distancing and virtual gatherings with friends, with the developer seeing a record year for its party game collections.

In a report from Bloomberg, developer Jackbox Games has had "its best year ever" in 2020, with sales of its Party Pack game collections seeing huge sales surges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, Bloomberg notes that the company is on track to double its number of players "to 200 million by the end of the year."

Jackbox Games CEO Mike Bilder explained that initially, the company saw "a big explosion back in March, April, May" of this year in sales of its games, likely driven by the early months of the coronavirus pandemic when it began to hit the US and other regions around the world, jumping by "as much as 1,000% from last year." However, Bilder added that while sales have leveled down since then, currently sales of the Party Pack games are still "significantly higher than it would be year after year."

Notably, the company just released its latest collection of party games earlier this month with The Jackbox Party Pack 7, which already is seeing a significant boost in sales compared to the launch of its past collections. Bloomberg's report detailed that Party Pack 7's launch sales are "five times the day one sales" of The Jackbox Party Pack 6, which launched around the same time last year.

The Jackbox Party Pack 7 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and other digital platforms.
