With the devastating events surrounding Japan, Square Enix has decided to shut down the Final Fantasy XI and XIV servers to conserve energy including their web portal services. This came into effect on March 13th and has been announced that it will last up to a week -- but no official date has been set. Subscribers will have a free month in April due to the shut down as long as things calm down in Japan. Even with servers down, Square Enix still plans on pushing through with updates to their servers.

Maybe you can take your April subscription money and donate to the many different charities taking up for Japan. Let's just hope things calm down to some normality so people can return to living their life's.
