Bethesda's hugely popular title, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has a dramatic soundtrack composed by Jeremy Soule, and released on vinyl with two limited versions back in 2017. However, it appears that the composer will not be working on the upcoming The Elder Scrolls VI.

VG247 noticed the Facebook Page announcement from Jeremy Soule himself in which he states the following,

"As so many of my fans have asked... While I’ve not said much about this out of courtesy to Bethesda, I would never turn my back on TES, and I believe that my involvement would hinge on a creative decision on their part and where they want to take the franchise. To confirm, I am currently not involved with TES VI."

After posting the announcement, fans spoke out stating that they hope Bethesda hires Soule, others saying The Elder Scrolls VI won't be the same without the composer, and some even saying that it's a bad move by Bethesda. Soule later added a comment saying,

"I appreciate the support! Thanks everyone! But whoever they have hired or may hire will deliver something special for TES VI. I’m certain they can still deliver a great game with or without my involvement."

He also followed up with another comment after liking a few fan comments saying,

"I normally mark comments I’ve read with a like, but I don’t want to appear to be taking sides in this. As Bethesda have said, TES VI is still a long ways out. My non-involvement at this stage isn’t necessarily an indicator of anything foreboding. But, whatever happens, it’s been a privilege for me to have made music for you with this series for all of these years! It’s been a joy to create these musical emotions and custom fit them into the world of The Elder Scrolls. I’m proud of the work that I’ve done and of all the artists who have made their own beautiful variations of my work such as Malukah. And most of all, I’m honored to have seen how this music has served in ways I could never have imagined. The heartfelt stories of this music accompanying people in hospitals, weddings and even funerals, as well as the stories of how people reached to this music in times of depression or anxiety. All of this is humbling for me. Thank you and Wind Guide You!"

While Jeremy Soule has been involved in the music of Skyrim, Morrowind, and Oblivion, he's also well known for World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Prey, and more.

VG247 recalled the situation from 2016 in which Bethesda held a concert featuring the music of Skyrim, however, Jeremy Soule claimed that he wasn't informed and that the orchestral performances were "a total transcription job". It's possible the relationship between the two might have broken from that situation, however, I certainly hope that's not the case and we get some more dramatic music in the future.

The Elder Scrolls VI was teased at E3 2018 alongside The Elder Scrolls: Blades, a mobile title. Despite being announced last year, The Elder Scrolls VI is still a long way off according to Pete Hines back in 2017. Last year, Hines also detailed why they chose to reveal the title so far in advance. Not much else is known such as platforms and release dates, but I'm sure we'll be seeing more information coming to light, hopefully sometime this year.
