As an influential voice in the worlds of PC gaming and gaming as a whole, John Bain (aka “TotalBiscuit”) had a signature sense of humor and style of commentary in the video game industry that made him a prominent personality in the medium.
Genna Bain — John’s wife and his companion for many streams and game demos/Let’s Plays — announced that John Bain had passed away on May 24th, 2018 at the age of 33. Bain had a prolonged struggle with cancer since being diagnosed in 2014, and had retired altogether from games criticism and commentary in April of this year following complications from his cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Bain made a name for himself as a games critic, games caster, and commentator under his alias of “TotalBiscuit” (and also called himself “The Cynical Brit”), and released numerous commentary videos and more on his YouTube channel, which has over 2.2 million subscribers. He also hosted on his channel the popular and long-running Co-Optional Podcast alongside his co-hosts, Jesse Cox and Brooke Thorne (aka “Dodger”).
Bain was also the top curator among Steam’s Curator program, with over 850,000 followers subscribed for his numerous PC game recommendations and reviews.
We here at DualShockers give our thoughts to Genna Bain, along with Bain’s family, friends, and loved ones, in light of John’s passing.
