505 Games and Typhoon Studios announced Journey to the Savage Planet at The Game Awards last year. While its reveal trailer didn't show very much, so Creative Director Alex Hutchinson promised to show more in 2019. After a few months of waiting, they finally decided to show more today following GDC, releasing a new trailer and some screenshots that showcase the player character and the game's world.

The world players explore in Journey to the Savage Planet is called AR-Y 26 and players are exploring it for Kindred Aerospace in order to see if it is hospitable for human life. The game does have a comedic edge to it, with even the premise pointing out the fact that Kindred Aerospace is only the "4th Best Interstellar Exploration Company".

Alongside this new trailer, Alex Hutchinson also reaffirmed that the developers wanted to have a lighter tone that paid tribute golden age sci-fi films. "As a studio we have a deep love of Golden Age science fiction, but it feels like some of the positivity and sense of adventure has been lost in recent years. There are too many dystopias for my tastes, so we wanted Journey to the Savage Planet to give space exploration its sense of adventure back in homage to those early sci fantasies and add a comedic twist," he said.

You can check out the new screenshots for yourself below. Journey to the Savage Planet will release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in 2020. The developers revealed last week that the PC version of the game will be an Epic Games Store exclusive for a year after launch.
