Having made several successful titles in the past like flOwFlower, and the unanimously-praised Journey on PS3, thatgamecompany's latest developments show the company is well on its way to begin work on a new, unannounced project.

A new blog post from the company's site details that developer thatgamecompany has raised $7 million in funds to go towards the development of a new game, with the raised funds including development, marketing, and self-publishing rights. As a collection of funds from various investors such as Capitol Today, thatgamecompany only announced that its upcoming game will be "in the same spirit as flOwFlower, and Journey." thatgamecompany mentions:

With this new investment, our studio is able to scale up development efforts to focus on making the best game possible in the same spirit as flOw, Flower, and Journey. We’ll also begin laying the infrastructure to self-publish, market, and distribute on our own terms for this next project and beyond.

Since finishing Journey, the team has been hard at work to make an emotionally engaging experience centered around human connections for players of all ages and backgrounds. We’re eager to share more information with everyone as we get further into development. Until then, a big thanks to everyone for your patience and ongoing support.

Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming project from thatgamecompany.
