After leaving the spotlight over the past few months, Kanye West, the world's most controversial musician, designer, and born-again Christian, has re-emerged in recent days. While much of the news around Ye in recent days involved his clothing brand, a new animated show, and the release of a new song just this morning, a new look at the infamous celebrity just playing some video games has also now popped up.

Shared by fellow rapper and collaborator Kid Cudi, a new video of Kanye playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was posted on Twitter recently, and it's pretty darn wholesome. The minute-long video sees Kanye playing through the game's second stage where he inevitably takes on Doctor Eggman. "That's Jim Carrey's character," Kanye can be heard saying when Eggman appears on the screen, clearly referring to the Sonic movie that released earlier this year.

While playing the game, Kanye also talks about how his son currently loves Sonic and that he is his favorite character. Ye also praises the classic platformer's animation style and talks about how it compares to Kids See Ghosts. He also barely finishes the level, beating Eggman with no rings left in his possession which elicits a chuckle from Kanye.

There's not a lot to glean from this video other than the fact that it's just pretty jolly. Kanye has been in the headlines a lot in recent years for both good and bad reasons. To see him simply chilling out and playing some Sonic the Hedgehog with a smile on his face is just pretty refreshing given everything else that has surrounded him.

And while it's something that currently doesn't seem to be in the cards, perhaps Kanye getting back in touch with his gaming side will lead to him continuing work on his own video game, Only One. Last seen in 2016, the project, which centered on Kanye's mother, Donda West, as she ascended to heaven, has since been all-but silent when it comes to new updates. At this point in time, it seems more likely that the game will never see the (ultra)light of day, but it has also never been formally canceled, either.

Anyway, regardless of what Kanye decides to do in the future, I'd definitely be down to see him play more games. Maybe when his music career ends he can shift to becoming a Let's Play content creator on YouTube.
