Namco Bandai today announced that their hit game KatamariDamacy will be on display as a part of the "Century of the Child: Growing by Design" exhibit at New York's Museum of  Modern Art starting yesterday, July 29th through November 05. The exhibit overviews the recent focus designers have had in the 20th and 21st century with developing and designing constructs specifically for children. In addition to examining hit video games, the exhibit will feature other facets of child-focused design, such as school architecture and modern playgrounds.

The inclusion of Katamari Damacy in this groundbreaking exhibit is a testament to the creative designs embodied in Namco Bandai’s games and shows the importance of video games in peoples’ lives, in addition to being a validation of video games as a modern form of interactive art.

Considering Katamari's vibrant aesthetic, catchy music, and amazing gameplay, it should fit right in at the museum. It may even intrigue some people into playing one of the Katamari titles. I'll be sure to check out the exhibit, it's nice to see such a good example of gameplay on the floor of such a prestiged establishment.
